it honestly is a beautiful tone. I’m an architect, I would rethink the kitchen design and work these in. it’s rare to have beautiful wood cabinets

Clean it with mineral spirits and super fine (#0000) steel wool, then let it dry. It will lighten and you can decide from there how to go forward!

Spray oven cleaner all over it and let it set out in the sun for a bit then rinse/clean the cabinet off. I’ve seen people do that and it bleaches it

Wood soaks in liquid so I could imagine it’s a damp top layer? Maybe lay them out for a few days to dry

You can bleach the wood to lighten it. If you keep sanding you can sand to much.

You have to bleach it to get the look you want as this is what your wood looks like

I had that happen when I stripped a desk. It only happened on the drawers though, not the desk top (different wood). Lots of sanding, it evened out

Every project is trial and error 🙈 Try oven cleaner! You’ll probably still have to sand after with 120 grit then go back over with a finer grit!
