Hmm grey salmon? Oregon salmon fisher here and chinook and coho should always be a beautiful red when caught and cleaned. Grey meat=seal food lol!

I'm no expert but wild salmon are orange because of B-carotene found in plankton and krill/shrimp. That's why they give it to farmed

Same goes for the beef it isn’t that bright red color naturally. So if it looks a little brown it doesn’t mean its going bad.
