20% is twice 10%, but 5% is half…. So if you’re figuring 15%, do 10%, then add half as much again… $40 x 15% = $6

I literally always do “is over of = % over 100” which is fine for numbers that are multiples of 5 but doesn’t work for me when it’s something like 13%
