Listening to essays as work audio has been something I love to do. Apart from reading books/essays/articles from time to time, it’s important for me to feed my left brain as much as my right, and as a designer who’s living in a city where it’s not the most accessible to go to lectures/exhibitions as often as I used to adjacent to my practice, it’s super important to find and be surrounded by them digitally. Acquiring the ability to critique is one of the best skills I’ve learned back in uni and it is what allows you to reduce creative block, have balanced thoughts about the world at large, and such in return: having a more nuanced and personalised take as a designer/artist. Tbh I don’t have much of a huge agenda against Pinterest or moodboarding sites as much as I used to, simply because of general accessibility to resources and time-constraints, as long as I can utilise them with a more “functional” use (i.e. client work) and a more curious, reflective and critical lens, then I think it can be “useful.” #designtok #artschool #artblock #creativeprocess #graphicdesign
