It’s a form of age discrimination, would be lovely when everyone is respect all ages 💞

I like the way you are challenging the thoughts I have been brought up with in a way that sparks my curiosity. Thank you!

I think that is a beautiful tradition. Many cultures including mine have lost all respect for our elders.🥰

In my culture, the elders are offered a seat, you get them a cup of tea, they are always fed first and are treated with the deepest respect.

Speaking as someone who lives in a society were we say "how are you doing?" etc. We don't always care about the answer. It's more of an empty gesture.

Tswanas traditionally just do a slight knee dip with both hand reaching for greeting or clasping your own hands as a sign of respect and reserve.

I appreciate what you’re saying but this issue reminds me of in my culture how we say “respect your elders” and people complain (myself included) that

I think this is beautiful. I feel like any act that humbled us has been made to be an insult so many reject these practices. Im from America...

Interesting. Do you think that they have a problem with showing respect in general, or is it more of a concern over submission and hierarchy?

I love your approach. As someone from the US, the idea of kneeling does make me a tad uncomfortable BUT (1)

What a lovely tradition! My only genuine question would be just to double checking the men had to also do the same bc if not that would change it from a sign of respect to one of suppression

I think it is a good thing to honor cultural practices, but I would imagine individuals who have been treated poorly by an elder may feel very differently.
