@drmichaelsays: Replying to @thesanchezz313 everybody seems to be an expert in how GP practices run- allow me to educate you! 👍🏻 GP partners run a business like any other business. They get 120 pounds per patient, per year, whoch has to pay all the staff, consumables, IT and rent for the full year! Salaried GPs earn much less because they are not running a business, they are turning uo for work, seeing patients and are not involved in the business side. GP partners are seeing patients and then having to run the business side of the practice. Each practice has about 2000 patients for 1 GP and needs admin and nursing cover as well. Its easy for guys like yourself to over simplify how a GP surgery runs, but i expect thats because yoi have got absolutely no idea what actually goes on, yet you comment like a smart arse! Hope taht clears it up for you! 🙌🏻 #nhs #gp #gppartner #health #healthcareworker #uk #nhsuk

It’s crazy that doctors have to justify their salary online 🤦♂️I’d be lost without mine and he’s honestly saved my life in multiple ways.

As someone who used to be a GP, the large majority are poorly run. No triage system, lazy doctors, incompetent doctors. It’s embarassing

Yep work in similar set up,all admin do quite technical job,we’re spread way too thin, people queue all day, always 7 in phone queue, on minimum wage!

A simpler way to work out is that we see 45-50 pts per day, alongside all blood results, referrals, and managing staff and the premises.

My ‘two GP’s have cut staff in half since covid. They have a part time nurse and the phone is never answered because they let two receptionists go. 😳

Why are so many admin/receptionists staff needed?
Lets say 20 staff x avg £50k = £1mill and expenses of £200k max.
Profit £800k!!!

GP practices will continue to have to merge into larger ones to survive like lawyers, dentists etc. They need economies of scale.
