Yep work in similar set up,all admin do quite technical job,we’re spread way too thin, people queue all day, always 7 in phone queue, on minimum wage!

A simpler way to work out is that we see 45-50 pts per day, alongside all blood results, referrals, and managing staff and the premises.

My ‘two GP’s have cut staff in half since covid. They have a part time nurse and the phone is never answered because they let two receptionists go. 😳

Totally agree and behind that is the yrs of study without an income plus the cost of uni. Australia it’s about $400k no joke. Daughter doing medicine

I work in a Gp practice with 16,000 patients 4 GPs most days there isn’t 4 on at the same time, there’s 2 nurses, every Gp practice is different

my GP surgery told me that there are caps for GP:patient ratios until you have 6+ GPS in a practice. no limit on patients. is that right?

GP practices will continue to have to merge into larger ones to survive like lawyers, dentists etc. They need economies of scale.

I go to a practice that has Registrars doing their GP rotation. Can always get an appointment and they’re young/keen/very knowledgeable.

Canada here, in my small province, NB, our top billing GP has a practice of 1900 patients and billed 1.7 million in a year.
