Recovering Precious Memories: Repairing a Smashed iPhone 7 to Retrieve Lost Data In this video, we take on the challenge of repairing a severely damaged iPhone 7 that holds crucial data from two phones, including irreplaceable memories of a cherished relationship. The owner, a long-time fan of our channel, entrusted us with this task and provided another phone to use for spare parts. Upon close inspection, it was evident that the phone had been subjected to a hard fall, causing significant deformation, especially around the hard drive area. Understanding the emotional weight of lost memories - particularly those involving loved ones - we began by testing the phone with a power meter. Pressing the power button showed a current jump to around 60 milliamperes, but the phone wouldn't turn on. Suspecting internal damage, we proceeded to disassemble the device to examine the motherboard. We discovered that the hard drive had been previously replaced, likely an upgraded storage version, but the impact had caused the solder joints on the hard drive pins to come off. We carefully removed the hard drive and cleaned the solder pads on the motherboard. Some of the solder pads had been damaged, so we reconstructed them by scraping out the solder pad pins and connecting copper wires to create artificial solder pads - nine in total. After re-soldering the hard drive back onto the motherboard, we tested the device again. This time, the current indicated that it could power on, but unfortunately, the screen remained blank. Determined to resolve the issue, we inspected the display chip and connector but found no visible abnormalities. We measured the resistance values on the display connector pins and found that the fourth pin from the left had no resistance. Consulting the schematic, we identified this pin as the display reset signal, which passes through an inductor to the CPU. Testing the other end of the inductor confirmed a broken circuit between the motherboard layers, likely due to the severe drop. Using precise techniques, we located the broken trace and created an artificial solder pad, securing it with solder mask. We connected a thin copper wire from this pad to the inductor at the broken circuit location, fixing both ends with solder mask for stability. After reassembling the phone and connecting the screen, we powered it on. Success - the Apple logo appeared, and we reached the password input interface. Once we entered the correct password, we accessed the system and promptly began extracting the valuable data. We backed up all the important information, including the cherished memories, to the functioning phone the owner provided. Our mission to recover the lost data was accomplished, bringing relief and joy to the owner.
