The only thing I don’t really explain in this short video is HOW I keep the chuck leather hard. After each use its dunked two or three times in water, wrapped tightly in plastic sheeting, and then it’s stored away in a box that seals tightly. Bisque fired chucks work too, even bone-dry ones, but I’ve always found that leather hard chucks remain tacky, and if wetted slightly before use, can really hold the vessels in place as they’re trimmed. I was going to handle these simple cups, but I think they were thrown and trimmed too finely, and I just know that the walls will deform and the rim will dip where the handle is attached, but that’s fine by me, it’s been a while since I’ve made any simple tumblers, so that’s exactly what these will be. #satisfying #pottery #potteryvideos #ceramics #howitsmade
