I work in the flooring world and some people do this. Only thing to know is that the color never really stops changing. It darkens year after year.

I’ve done this lots before! Never poked a hole in the lid? If you use sos pads with the soap in them it makes the wood grey! 👍

If you use the steel wool that comes in a roll and not the bagged pads, it breaks down faster. Those individual pads have a wax on them, takes longer
