Unlike Katy Perry who recently suffered from likely blepharospasm (although not confirmed by Katy Perry herself), Justin Bieber suffered from ptosis, which is drooping of the eye, often caused by paralysis of the facial muscles surrounding the eye. Justin stated he also had Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which is a combination of facial paralysis (including the eye and mouth), combined with a rash, both caused specifically by the varicella zoster virus (VZV). VZV is the same virus that causes chicken pox and shingles! This is different from Bell’s Palsy, which is paralysis of the facial muscles, including ptosis, and is not caused specifically by VZV.
