I do all the time, steep hills, mud, snow etc you use all 18 in a log truck quite often

Everyone says if it’s not an 18 your not a real driver. Apparently there not cause unless your running heavy all you need is a 13 it’s the same

those low side half gears are nice for finding the perfect gear for rolling through a yard, or for starting out in soft ground

I often use 3 half gears when empty (44000lbs) in off the stoplight shifting. Just seems to be most efficient in my rig.

I always leave it in over drive in the bottom but I also haul tank less shifting the easier it is on the truck
