I’ve heard it can cause damage to motors if there isn’t enough power available. I’m not quite sure how it works but it seems plausible.

My thoughts: even a normal 12a vacuum cleaner should have a 15 amp dedicated outlet. Odds are the other things running would exceed total 15 amps.

A 20 amp load should be on a 30 amp circuit. You should never ever plan your electrical installation with the bare minimum.

Does it hurt if you put a 20 amp breaker on a 15 amp circuit?

can you explain what is involved in adding an outlet 3 ft horizontally from existing? I'm convinced it's a small project, my spouse insists it's not$

I agree with everything you said. However, lots of appliances “require” a dedicated circuit. If you held to that for each device…100’s circuits need

How do you feel about people that used 12/3 wire to catch 2 dedicated 20 amp hits??

i was always taught to only use 70% of breaker capacity. if it’s a 15amp appliance, run a 20amp.

Does a shared 15 amp circuit peak over 15 periodically or are breakers absolute?

If the appliance pulls 20a it should have a 20a plug

Also Don’t upsize a breaker without upgrading the wire or you’ll have melted wire & a fire hazard.
