i work in the shop that makes these engines. 2019 the shop was retooled and now has 4x the washers to get the metal out.

Last year, Kia replaced this engine in my daughter’s 2015 Soul with just 65k miles on it. Took them 6 weeks to complete - hoping it lasts 😬

2014 optima. They gave me a lifetime warranty on my motor. Only thing i have an issue with is oil consumption. But its not enough to fix. Yet.

I have a 2020 Optima 2nd owner at 53k. no recalls. my dealer tells me mine is not a concern for the oil consumption issue..

We have a 2011 Sorento with the 2.4, that my wife bought new in 2011. our car has been one of the most reliable and longest lasting vehicles I have ever owned. it has 250,000 miles on it right now and still runs really good. the biggest issue I had was clogged cat. converte.

I had a brand new 2011 Hyundai Elantra that would blow out black smoke when I accelerated. They didn’t believe me. I installed a camera to proof it.

You do have to show documentation of regular oil changes to qualify for the warranty. Save the receipts!

Guess I got lucky cause I got a 2012 Kia Optima Ex GDI and I’m pushing 189k miles… no oil consumption or engine noise… knocking on wood ✊🏿😬

yes! had our Kia engine replaced last year under the recall at 79,000. my Dad's Sonata failed a few months later, also replaced under recall.

2013 Santa Fe Sport. Third knock sensors and it burns a quart per 1000 miles. Last time I buy Hyundai/Kia.
