Can you explain why those ones end up not working?

But technically don't absolute values have infinite answers if you consider the complex plane?

For everyone asking, if |x|=y: When we assume x is > 0, we get x=y When we assume x is < 0, we get -x=y or x=-y So if the value of x we got isnt in the domain we already defined in the beginning (ex: x turns out to be 4 but we said x should be < 0), it will be refused.

Finally one that I understand how to do. Except that two of the possible answers aren’t correct. But that’s more theoretical. I can solve this.

It’s easier to break this into the two cases x>0 and x<0. Either of those assumptions allows you to elim all abs values

you can find the condition of x so you don't have to check if x is satisfied: Case 1, 3x - 16 >=0. Case 2, 3x + 16 >=0

like the others, I'm confused why we had to double check answers and why some of them didn't work. is this a quirk of nested absv operators?
