Visiting Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park was definitely a mix of really good moments and some frustrating ones. The park itself is beautiful and the theme is so unique. We loved the train ride, the paddle boats, and all the educational elements around the park. It really is a special place for families and younger kids. 🌳🚂 But the experience overall was tough. It took 1 hour and 17 minutes just to park, and because the park closed at 5pm, we ended up with less than four hours inside the park on a busy holiday weekend. For Easter weekend, extended hours would have made a huge difference. Once inside, a lot of rides were: • Closed completely • Only operating part of the day • Running with very limited staff With the holiday crowds, that meant lines moved really slowly. Several rides only had one operator, which made wait times much longer than expected. The food also didn’t really hit the mark for us, which was disappointing after such a long wait to get into the park. I really do think this park has so much potential. The setting, theming, and family focus are amazing. But things like: • More staffing • Fewer ride closures • Extended hours on busy weekends • And an accurate operating calendar online would make the experience so much better for families planning a visit.
