This is occurring thing, I literally got bitten this way. People need to learn to let their dogs off ONLY when they 100% sure. Hope Kobe is okay 🥰

My new rescue GSDs are reactive. we’re wkng with a trainer but so many unleashed dogs run up to them in my neighborhood it’s frustrating.

I’ve had this happen to me - it’s not pleasant and I’m sorry you guys had to deal with this. It’s infuriating when the other owner is away in the clouds not paying attention to what their dog is up to.

if it happens again try a firm sit at the offlead dog. most dogs know it and it can make the dog think again and go away

Best advice I can give you, is teach you dog a down /sit when you see one coming. Stand infront and yell no/stop or clap real loud

It's infuriating when we train our dogs so hard and as you said, it only takes this to happen to set the dogs back X10. It's not pleasant &frustrating

I feel you, I’ve worked so hard with with my dog on reactivity but other dogs off lead running at him sets him off.

Yes correct. I have a Staffy. I don't trust my recall, it's about 85%. I never let him off lead, unless we're at an inclosed dog park by ourselves.

This is why I cannot trust any off lead dog, my pomchi is only like 3lbs so literally any dog could do serious damage by accident or on purpose🤷🏼♀️

🥺 This happens to us all the time, it’s so hard to focus on your dog at the same time. I’d say though Kobe did good in warning the dog to back off!

I have a Staffy. I am so aware of how awful that must have been. I am on my guard at ALL times w mine. Never off leash. You’re a good dog owner.

start training a contact heel. it's very helpful in stressful situations, gives you the ability to keep your dog next to you so you don't have to worry about him and can adress situations hands free
