Travel Advisor Hot 🔥 Tip Tuesday: You don’t need to hand over a slice of EVERY 💰 commission just because you’re with a host or your “family” travel agency.... and I know this is what makes me unpopular and IDGAF. You don’t have to “agree” for it to be true. ✅ Get your own IATAN, CLIA, or TRUE agency identifier. This is DIFFERENT than having an IATA card or Embarc that your agency has to approve.  ✅ Work directly with DMCs, tour operators, and vendors that pay top commission without requiring proof of sales. You can register with them  ✅ Keep 💯 of your commission, because you earned it. You’re 1099. You’re not “exclusive.” You’re running YOUR own agency too, not just theirs. If you aren’t using their IATAN, then your host isn’t involved in that transaction. Period. You’ll need your LLC, EIN, and E&O (but honestly, you should have that anyway if you’re serious about your business). And if you’re doing $250K+ in sales? This move pays for itself faster than you can say “commission with a comma,” because it allows you to leave more seamlessly if you ever DO decide to go 100% independent.  This is something I did last year that really allowed me to SMOOTHLY offboard from my host in December. I had my OWN CLIA and it made leaving that much less stressful (you don’t have to be a cruise specialist to carry a CLIA - they are widely recognized). Does this mean investing more money into your business? ABSOLUTELY! Is it a legit write off... HELL YES and it’s part of the process of truly creating your own personal brand, building relationships and MAKING YO MONEY, BABES. ⚡ My #1 go-to vendor that proves this point: Ultimate Jet Vacations. They don’t play favorites with giant hosts. They treat ME like gold and my clients like platinum. Stop running your business like an intern begging for scraps. Run it like the CEO you are.
