@doctorflossy: Come get a dental cleaning with me! This is by far the most important visit. Not only is it the least intimidating of all the dental procedures, we can screen you for dozens of diseases (both dental and systemic). We can catch cavities while they're still reversible, we can screen for oral cancer lesions, we can screen for hypertension and even diabetes. Not only that, we remove all of that plaque and biofilm accumulating in your mouth, and teach you how to prevent it from happening again! Some people have a hard time balancing their oral health so these visits can be the dealbreaker when it comes to dental disease. In other words, don't skip your cleanings! The longest you should wait between cleanings is 6 months. I have a lot of patients who come in every 3 for good measure.
