you could also use gift bags to place items in so you don't have to wrap it and they might not notice the lack of box

I unpack new or second hand out the box fill with batteries and bit to make them work and lay them in cardbord or the paper

i reuse boxes! i have a big box which i glued wrapping paper to and i use news paper to 'wrap' the presents in and i fill the box with all the toys

i bought used baby clothes, blankets etc for my daughters doll, put them in a crisp box she found it funny said i tricked her - they dont care

I use a santa sack (my kids have 1 each and get reused every year) anything that is without boxes goes in the sack! saves on paper too

When I buy things new I take them out of the packaging a lot of the times. Kids like to play straight away. Not faff about opening & setting up
