Earlier this week, Lady A performed at Tim McGraw’s Country Music Hall of Fame induction and chose “Live Like You Were Dying.” Charles Kelley is currently battling multiple myeloma, and you could feel the weight of that in every line. He wasn’t just covering a song. He was living it in front of everyone. The song, written by Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman, came out in 2004, the same year Tim lost his father, Tug McGraw, to brain cancer. It spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the country charts, won a Grammy, and took home both Song and Single of the Year at the CMA Awards. More than two decades later, it remains one of the defining songs of Tim’s career, and few performances of it will ever carry the meaning this one did. Official footage hasn’t been released yet, but the fan clips are something else. Sending Charles and his family all the strength in the world. #countrymusic #ladya #timmcgraw #cancersucks
