@herptime: Hydrophobic anolis 💦 I often get asked if I had to choose only one anole to keep, which would it be? My consistent answer is the Cuban stream anole, Anolis vermiculatus. The beautiful green mottled pattern coupled with bright blue eyes, along with their crocodilian/monitor esque structure and intelligent behavior all contribute to why I love this species. This video displays a bonus feature: being semi aquatic and often taking to water to escape danger or to catch food, vermiculatus boast completely waterproof skin. Being able to hold their breath for extended periods of time, they can pop out of the water completely dry as if they were never submerged. It is an amazing design that I’m lucky enough to witness regularly, so why not share it with you all! I do breed this species, but will not have any available for at least a year so please refrain from asking if you’ve read this far lol.
