The key difference is that dollars are tied to assets crypto isn’t. Literally everything has an essentially arbitrary value. Milk, houses, diamonds….

Value of any currency is related to the degree of certainty that it will be useful in the future. US dollar is backed by the US military and 20T+ GDP
