SEEING POTENTIAL INSTEAD OF DOCUMENTING THE MOMENT On our last day in Bali, we explored the beach area near the resort where the Sony Kando trip SEA was held and I found this scene. Since the sun was setting away from the scene, I knew that this needed a bit more magic and luckily I shot a nice sky image on another day that would fit perfectly Shooting:I had the A7Rv and Sony 20mm f1.8 almost touching the water being held by the Leofoto Mr Y travel tripod. I mounted an H&Y ND64 and Balancer GND on the camera and shot 15 second exposures. Edit:Global processing on Adobe lightroom entailed standard global adjustments and using the Sony vivid color profiles to bring out more of the natural colors from the foliage and the moss on the rocks. Necessary cropping was done by first aligning the horizon properly and the cropping into a 4:5 aspect ratio. Then I used Adobe Lightroom’s smart masking tools to select and bring out details on the shadows of the cliff as well as shape the light a bit to bring more emphasis on the temple. After other exposure refinements and spot removal we move to photoshop. Sky Replacement Since most of the adjustments were done on Lightroom, the only step to do is use the smart sky replacement module on Adobe Photoshop. The crucial point here is making sure that the sky already mostly matches the scene of the base image. Photoshop will implement changes onto the colors and the lighting on the edges of where it will place the sky and it’s a matter of fine tuning them to better fit your preferences.
