Federal law states that they can not force you to have them do it. If the oil was the cause it’s on the manufacturer to prove it.

Unless it’s Hyundai or Kia I seen them warranty engines with over 20-30k pass due oil dark maybe about 1qt

I did my own oil then noticed it only costs 10$ more for someone else to do it. I will never change my own oil again.

Yeah but dealers charge 100 bucks+ for a 6 qt change. The parts come out to 40🤷🏻♂️

my dad's always bought the oil filter and had the mileage written on it from the dealership and done his own oil changes the rest of the way never had a problem with warranty

100% disagree, if you I’ve proof of pruchse for oil and a filter that’s good, if they decline warranty work, take it to court. Easy win.

I have a problem of the Toyota dealer wanting 150 bucks per oil change saying we need to do like 15 things when they do the oil change

I worked for Hyundai. they are extremely strict on maintenance records due to the lifetime warranty on the 2.4 theta motors

Lack of oil change is incredibly easy to see. If you can’t prove it’s the cause, you’re scamming your customers out of their warranty

I agree, but what if I show up at the dealership to report my own oil changes. I buy lots of oil and filters at once for multiple changes.

They can’t deny it unless they can prove I was the cause. It will be a fight to the death for sure though. I always take photos of the receipts to.

No lie... Our Palisade has the free oil changes. It was gonna take TWO months to get done. I just did it. Huge PITA

And that’s why my life time warranty Jeep goes to the shop we bought it from for all work. Ain’t gonna lose that lifetime warranty for powertrain

When you open an engine up you’ll be able to tell weather or not the oil get changed regularly

As long as you can prove oil changes have been done, manufacture may still try to decline it, but they legally can’t. Right to repair

we keep a notebook in the shop for all of our trucks. organized by Vin and date. we don't even worry about warranty.

Agree, Keep records of all maintenence, but failure has to be proven to be lack of maintanence or ran low on oil to be denied coverage.
