@jesmartini: Replying to @cirrussssthisass im not saying there aren’t kids who wouldn’t absolutely benefit from in patient treatment.::but what I am saying is often those aren’t the kids who end up in the facilities long term @Maggie Higgins #letstalkaboutit #fyp

I was put into a lock down facility as a teen that I should have never been in. Come to find out I was there because me being there meant a bonus

I've worked with institutionalized people. There's a LARGE amount of them that really should have been home. AND there's a lot of parents that didn't

troubled kids do need help but the kinds of "help" available only seem to serve to traumatize them further, sadly. trauma informed therapy? nahhhh

Plus most troubled teen programs are not providing true inpatient treatment.

It was a HUGE money-making industry. Their parents probably needed parenting classes and family therapy

True inpatient facilities push for family interaction. A good institution would have both parents coming in to do therapy w/ him

My daughter has been institutionalized twice. The first time, it was scary for both of us, she asked me for emergency help and I took her to the ER.

I have a boy that abused my daughter and should be institutionalized and get help but yet it’s being swept under the rug like you said because children don’t have voices we have to advocate for them 🥺
