Oh, the ugly faces 😃 Usually a pretty good indication that we’re pushing ourselves…which is exactly what we want to be doing when we train. Your muscles grow when they’re challenged and you want those last two reps of all your sets to feel HARD. But…hard with good form. Really hard reps while maintaining good form first and foremost is what we’re going after in our training. Those really hard reps are where the magic is actually happening and your muscles are getting the stimulus they need to adapt, grow and get stronger. If you’re doing a set of 10 reps for example and reps 9 and 10 aren’t a bit of a fight to complete…it’s likely the weight is not challenging enough. As Midlife Women, I think learning to train with intensity is a journey in and of itself. And I can honestly say it took me most of that first year of lifting to really trust myself and push myself to do so. And that’s ok…weight lifting is a skill you constantly improve at over time. So if you’re just starting out…focus on dialing in your form first. Then don’t be afraid to slowly push the envelope and see what you’re capable of. I guarantee you this: you’re stronger than you think! In your corner ❤️
