Paul of the Gospel was called an Apostle. He is depicted as carrying a sword in the Catholic church (while Peter is the one holding a key). Therefore, I see nothing wrong in him receiving a sword as a present since he is known as Apostle Joshua Selman. The Bible also talks about the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.
