you are correct the attic space now I did see what you did I would have done it a little different I will cut a square on the ceiling right above the light switch and right below that square cut another square notch the 2x4 was a sawzall down to my switch

i’m more of a multitool kinda guy and notching top of wall/ceiling so it’s just 1 piece to mud but yeah not making holes is next to impossible
