Up until relatively recently, the market proliferated with naturalistic healers, including homeopaths, hydropaths, naturopaths, chiropractors, and itinerant healers, none of which were considered “alternative” as MDs were not the gold standard. Enter…systematized campaign in attempts to gain improve MDs social reputation and enhance their standing, via a concerted push for licensure, uniformity and streamlining in curriculums, and standardization in credentialing of MDs. …as well as vilification of any medical approach that didn’t have drugs at its epicenter. Does the name Rockefeller ring a bell? This oil tycoon funded medical schools contingent upon one premise: that their curriculums revolve around patentable petrochemical derived drugs from which his industry would profit. In concert with the commissioning of the Flexner Report, the American Medical Association waged a systemic smear campaign intended to defame any other healer that did not conform to the kind of “medicine” in which conditions were matched to drugs. This report was used by Congress to de-legitimize anyone that did not practice pharmaceutical-based medicine and to dismantle the curricula of medical schools that had previously instructed in the healing potentiality of diet, herbalism or natural treatment. Part of this concerted effort was to brand any other kind of medicine—including TRADITIONAL medicine (ie. the kind that has existed for thousands of years and is ultimately based upon ancient system such as Greco-Islamic medicine, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine and other ancient and indigenous healing modalities) as QUACKERY.
