@oldtimeroyals: Tsar Nicholas II and King George V were cousins throught their mother, Queen Alexandra and Empress Maria Feodorovna who were sisters. George was born in 1865 as the second child of the future King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra of England. Tsar Nicholas II was born in 1868 as the eldest child of Emperor Alexander III and Empress Maria Feodorovna. In 1893, George married to Princess Mary of Teck. Nicholas was in England for the wedding of his twin cousin, the guest at the garden pre-wedding party often mistaken George as Nicholas and Nicholas as George, they congratulated Nicholas for the wedding, while George was asked if he enjoyed his stay in London. Nicholas married to his second cousin, Princess Alix of Hesse, it was a love match. They were married in 1894, while court still in mourning for the death of Tsar Alexander III, it was held during the birthday of the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna. In 1917, Russian revolution blew up and Nicholas was forced to abdicated in favor of his son, Alexei. Nicholas, Alexandra, and their 5 children were held imprisonment at Alexander Palace at Tsarskoye Selo. Alexandra’s oldest sister, the Marchioness of Milford-Haven offered to take care the children, she had sent letter to George, but it was refused because if the famiky went to exile in England, they afraid that the sane thing would happened to the country. Nicholas died at the age of 50 after being shot in the bloody night of 17-18 July 1918, along with his family and servants. (There were rumors that Nicholas’s youngest daughter, Anastasia, survived).
