Wear a winter hat. You lose a lot of heat from your head and you will be surprised at the difference it makes.

the new Uniqlo heatech ultra warm thermal is a gamechanger too. the down jacket nice because you can take the layers off indoors easier.

Yup! I do the same thing and it works. The jacket folds up and you can easily carry if you no longer need it.
