@kendallbrowncoaching: Hyper-vigilance is a trauma response! ⚠️ Let me explain… If you grew up in a home that felt chaotic, unsafe and/or with parents who’s moods were unpredictable or volatile… chances are you have these coping mechanisms as a result. 🧐 Hypervigilance = Constantly assessing everything and everyone around you, on the lookout for potential threats. This goes hand-in-hand with… 😵💫 Hypersensitivity bc when you’re always on alert for potential threats, you’re highly sensitive and attuned to minute details, especially with people. 🗣 You pick up on slight changes in tone when someone is speaking. 😳 You pay extra attention to someone’s facial expressions ✨You sense people’s moods, energy and emotions off their body language. *note: you may not be consciously aware you’re even doing this* Trying to predict people’s moods and reactions is how you have LEARNT to keep yourself safe! Bc then you can adapt your behaviour to minimise abrupt or scary reactions. This may not seem like a bad thing… but if you really think about it… 🥵 It’s EXHAUSTING to always be on alert; always so sensitive to everything and everyone around you; always trying to think 2 steps ahead. You’re also likely to be anxious a lot of the time, bc you’re always on edge that something bad is going to happen or kick off at any moment. For your body, your often in a chronic state of fight-or-flight, ready to react instantly (if you need you) Healing these responses starts with: 👉🏻 Regulating your nervous system with regular self soothing & safety practices 👉🏻 Reestablishing safety within yourself - mentally, emotionally and physically 👉🏻 Working through and healing childhood trauma I help A LOT of my clients with all of these parts (DM me if you want to know more) 💓 📲 Follow me for more trauma healing tips & support! . . . #hypervigi#hypervigilances#hypersensitives#hypersensitivityn#highlysensitivepersonh#hspn#highlysensitives#traumaresponsed#childhoodtraumal#innerchildl#innerchildhealingl#innerchildworkaling
