When I worked at Target in Rogers, Mn, the guy who came in every morning was from Mexico. We talked EVERY DAY. I noticed that no one else would talk to him. Someone had asked HOW I talk to him. They assumed (without having EVER spoken to him) that he didn't speak ANY English.
