@dr.jmack: #stitch with @flashnewsau People are dying from fentanyl contaminants in illicit drugs which are purposefully smoked, shot-up, snorted, or swallowed. The risk of a clinically significant transdermal absorption by touching fentanyl powder is extremely low. DO wash your hands if exposed and DO NOT use alcohol based hand sanitizer (can increase absorption). SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE KIDS IN THE BACK! In the vet ER, I utilize fent a lot and I may get a drop on my hand when drawing it up - never even got high

I’ve seen and felt the same experience with spice in the uk. It absolutely makes you feel sick as a dog. How’s that?!

It's not always in patches tho is it? And this can happen when seizing it in evidence bags and squeezing the air out before sealing.

Fentanyl patches are designed to release a set portion for a set time. Bad comparison..

These cops you see overdosing are users not accidental contact.

Anaphylaxis is rare with fentanyl, but possible. Probably a responsible news outlet should rule out other causes before claiming overdose.

well actually you can. The fentanyl is stored in a number of different things and can create power. That powder is then inhaled by someone not used to it. Patches are slow release not instant.

As an RN, I occasionally got a drop or two on my hand when drawing it up for a patient. I never had any problems.
