Was there a downside to reaper? I cant remember who said it but was it only for recording and audio? Or did it have midi and soft synths?

I've been using Cakewalk for years and made a ton of records with it. It wasn't free back in the day, and it does everything any daw could.

I chose StudioOne because it was affordable, easy to use, on PC, and I could find a lot of YT vids to teach me what I couldn't figure out.

I started out with cakewalk home studio 7, went to producers series 9 then went to cubase and liked it a lot and used Steinberg products.

I just went from a 10 old MacBook to a windows laptop. Am I missing GarageBand, or are other DAW just as good?

i choose cubase pro because its expensive and you get many crashes. so you learn all the different feelings at once.

Really appreciate the advice and insight. I use an online daw called Soundtrap, but I definitely need a serious upgrade. Thanks Warren!

Started with GarageBand, upgraded to Reaper, Logic is next up. I loved the progression of learning DAWs through these.

I’d say Reaper could be a good first pick. It’s a completely free DAW that pros use. Logic Pro is fairly cheap too at $200

I've been rocking Cakewalk for the past year mainly to record guitar practice sessions. what does it not have that I need to spend $$ to get?

Aren’t some DAW’s a lot easier on the CPU even using the same plugins? Better audio engine?

Reaper is the best DAW for musicians for recording. For non-musicians it‘s Logic Pro that comes with nearly 29‘000 Apple Loops ! 🥺

I started with tracktition waveform free. I now use their pro paid version just for the few extra plugins. 10/10 for me

If you’re looking for something more I love using Mixcraft by Acoustica. They have a cheap($75) & expensive version($145) both are really easy to use.
