I never trusted these type of design (like suspended pool), you never know how long it will last and no room for error once it fails.

I would say too much traffic on the structure. Too much vibration on the joints makes it unpredictable. Given the nature of the aquarium should have been kept more isolated

There is so much going on there. I think fatigue is a good guess, all though it's unlikely that engineers didn't considered it.

while the outside temp might have been 14 deg F; tank was inside the building! was that area somewhat heated and cooled to a certain temp? there was a cafe under the tank, whos gonna eat there at 14 deg F? 😅
