When choosing your brand name, try to keep it under 4 syllables. The shorter name is easier to remember and incorporate into a logo. It’s why Federal Express changed their name to FedEx back in January 2000. Just think of some of the most iconic brands… Tesla, Nike, Pepsi, and Apple. All short and to the point. And when big companies have longer names, they tend to come up with short, memorable variations. American Express is also known as Amex. United Parcel Service is also known as UPS. Coca-Cola is also known as Coke. It’s why we changed our name from Neil Patel Digital to NP Digital. You get the point.

My blog generates 3 million visitors a month and over 40,000 leads. But I would do it differently if I had to do it all over again. Why? Short answer: it was done wrong. Long answer: Because I aim to target marketers, I created content based on what marketers want to read. And I cover everything under the marketing umbrella and in 7 languages. But helping marketers with their problems doesn't mean you will generate revenue. You could say you are getting brand exposure, and in the long run it does help with branding. But that doesn't always translate into revenue, even long-term revenue. On the flip side, creating content that helps people solve problems they are willing to pay for is a great way to make money. For example, my articles on gaining Instagram followers used to be my most popular content. However, very few people were willing to pay for help to gain Instagram followers. And if they were willing to spend money, it isn’t much. However, my content on how to structure a website for global SEO is something many companies hire us for. They aren't popular articles, but it is a problem that companies are willing to pay for. Don't just create content to help people solve their problems. Focus on creating content that helps people solve problems they are willing to pay for.

Have you noticed that when you post more generic, newbie content you get more likes and followers? We ran an experiment with 25 social media influencers who sells products online and they do this by creating educational social content. We found that their newbie and basic content generated 29.4% more likes, 42.1% more comments and 17.5% more shares on average compared to posting advance content. But here is where it gets interesting. When they surveyed their customers they found that their advance content was 38.8% more likely to create a paying customer than their beginner content. But in the same survey they found that their beginner content was 30.7% more likely to generate a follower. If you want more followers consider creating more basic content. And if you want more customers consider creating more advance content. Ideally you need a mixture of both.
