One question I get asked regularly is how I keep my body so flat in the water, especially my legs, while doing virtually no kicks. I always say, focus on body position: keep your head down and your body level with the water's surface. Engage your core muscles to maintain a straight and streamlined form. But how do you develop those core muscles? While going to the gym and focusing on core exercises like sit-ups can help improve your form and shape, it might not fully address the specific core engagement needed in the water. Another helpful tip is incorporating kicking into your sessions. Use a kickboard and practice consistent kicking. Remember, the kick should start from the hips and move fluidly down to your toes. Additionally, focus on your overall training by incorporating interval sets, such as 10x100m or 20x50m with a fixed rest time. This helps improve your endurance and swimming efficiency. Lastly, when you go to the pool, try using a flat kickboard instead of a pull buoy while swimming with just your arms or with arms and paddles. The pull buoy can make you neglect your legs as it keeps them afloat automatically. Using a kickboard, on the other hand, requires you to engage your core muscles to keep it in place, which helps train your core effectively. There are no quick fixes. Be patient with yourself and stay consistent! 😊 For more insights, follow 👉 @markus_marthaler #swimbikerun #swimming #triathlon #natation #nage #nager #swim #nageur #switzerland #suisse #montagne #mountains #openwaterswimming #monaco #mermediterranee #mediterranean #whale #shark #dolphin
