Question, wouldn’t the part be stronger if printed sideways so you have vertical layers when using the part?

Yeah, those layer lines will shear the first second they want. You should print this vertically. It will use less support material.

I print things like this at a 45 to make it more structurally sound so that the layers don’t match up to the way it turns

To fit things together like that I add 0.2mm to the size of the hole and it's usually a perfect fit.
