@amateurfoodalchemist: Every time I get these tall glass pillar candles from the dollar store, they never stay or after burning 1/3 to 1/2 of it down. Instead of throwing them away, I removed the wax and reused both the glass container and the wax. How I Removed the Wax: place candles into a pot of almost boiling water, close to the wax level. Also, I added the hot water inside the jar. This helped the wax melt and rise to the top. Let things cool enough to be able to touch. You might need a knife to cut around the wax. If the wick is still intact you can grab onto that and tug. Some people claim that freezing also works, but I didn't have that luck with these.
