If you cease allowing the debt collectors to contact you ever. you’re more likely to get sued on the debt. So be aware of that.

Bravo for not filing a frivolous lawsuit. You’re also correct the debt doesn’t go away. Consumer should try to negotiate a settlement with collectors

yeah, I worked for a bank fine that was fine by CFPB for continuing to contact people after they gave verbal notice.
