Hailey Bieber Reveals She Struggled With PMDD After the Birth of Her Son Jack Blues Hailey Bieber is opening up about an unexpected part of motherhood. The Rhode founder, 29, told Women’s Wear Daily she struggled with premenstrual dysphoric disorder, or PMDD, after having her son. “After I had my son, I struggled with that a bit, and there’s just not a lot of conversation or research around it,” she said. She first shared her diagnosis in March on the SHE MD podcast. She said she was diagnosed about six months after giving birth. She had dealt with PMS before pregnancy, but this felt different. “I was like, ‘This just feels way more intense than before,’” she said. In the days before her period, she said, “You just have all these swirling thoughts and feelings, and just everything feels like the biggest deal in the world.” She said the feelings eased once her period started, and her symptoms improved over time. According to the Office on Women’s Health, PMDD is similar to PMS, but its symptoms can be much more severe. They can include intense mood changes, irritability, depression or anxiety. Bieber says talking about it helps. “Conversation, for me personally, makes me feel less alone,” she said. She also says motherhood has been fulfilling. She and husband Justin Bieber welcomed Jack on Aug. 22, 2024. “It is so fun,” she said. She hopes to have another child, but is “not in a rush.” Have you ever felt like no one was talking about what you were going through? #HaileyBieber #PMDD #WomensHealth #Postpartum #Motherhood
