I know you're probably thinking you've tried various things and nothing has really stuck, but nobody has ever given you the full process in the right order with the reasoning behind each step so this is that here's exactly what to do: step 1 prep. exfoliate your whole body 24 hours before your first session. apply a lightweight lotion the morning of. go out with clean, fresh, moisturised skin step 2 stop relying on the weather app and your phone timer. this was my whole system for years and it's not enough. the UV changes every single day so the same 20 minute timer makes no sense, and after a burn your skin needs way less time but a clock app doesn't know that. someone in my comments told me about this app called Tanrr and it's so much better you don't set a timer at all, it figures out the duration automatically based on the real-time UV, cloud cover, and your previous sessions. if you've burned recently it already accounts for that. it also tells you when the actual best window to go out opens and closes so you're not wasting time outside when the UV is flat step 3 build your base first. for the first two weeks cap every session at what Tanrr tells you. burns show up 4 to 6 hours later, not in the moment step 4 lock it in after. apply after-sun the moment you're inside. moisturise before bed. do this every day even on days you don't tan step 5 stay consistent. two to three sessions a week all summer. the colour compounds by week 6 you will look completely different drop
