@learntotalkwithme: Sensory specific satiety is a really interesting phenomenon. Basically, it means that when you’re eating one food or even a couple of different foods, eventually you habituate in your body says I’ve had enough of this, but, if something else is introduced with different sensory properties, like a sweet taste, or a creamy taste, your body all of the sudden isn’t quite so full anymore! This might be the reason why your little one all of the sudden is hungry when dessert comes around, even though they’ve just said helpful, they are, and don’t want any more of their chicken! #feedinglittles #pickyeater #toddlers #familymeals #blw #responsivefeeding #dessert

As a kid I always told my parents that there’s always room for ice cream, it melts and fills in the spaces in your belly between the other foods 😂

I imagine serving dinner and dessert at the same time will help with this?

100% accurate I dont get mad at my toddler when he comes over to steal my dessert even if he just ate because he usually just wants 1-2 bites anyway.

Lol always. I sometimes get “tired” of what I’m eating even if I’m not full - so this makes it make sense!

We don't have desserts often, but when we do I've started serving it with dinner. It's been helping them eat more of their actual food too!

I think this is why I need a change on day 3 if leftovers last too long

My husband JUST did this tonight! Had shrimp cocktail for dinner & said I’m full! Then 2 minutes later wanted a bowl of cereal (sweet&crunchy)😂♥️

My son says, “I’m full of that” (specific food) like tired of it…. And it isn’t for a dessert. He just needs another side or a different meal. 🤷🏼♀️
