There used to be someone in my life that literally would do things DESERVING of a reaction, and then I would react (sometimes not the best) and they would use the fact that I was in therapy or that I had a strong with relationship with Jesus against me. Essentially saying that if I was engaged in this process, then I shouldn’t react, that I was more at fault for my reaction because of the personal growth I was engaged in. I remember how angry and hurt that would make me. But now I realize that it was truly the enemy using that person to cause me to walk in shame and guilt, to question my progress, to make me want to give up on this healing journey because no matter how far I would go, there was still some “Sam” left in me. I’m writing this post to encourage you. You are SAVED, but you aren’t SOFT. You are allowed to have boundaries, you allowed to state your position, and you are allowed to check someone’s disrespect. There is a way to do that, which is where I had to grow- if I’m being honest. And let’s be real, I don’t think healing journeys ever end. I think we are on our journeys all of our lives- because life doesn’t stop being life- and there is always something to learn & heal through. Cheers to GROWTH! Cheers to BOUNDARIES!
