The call of a red-tailed hawk is very unique, and many movie producers think that this shrill scream is what a raptor should sound like, especially eagles. In many movies with eagles and other raptors, you will often hear this famous call no matter the species on screen. Listen for it next time!! 🛑 Killer is a non-releasable red-tailed hawk. She lives at the @cgdiscoverycenter in The Dalles, OR. She suffered an injury to her right wrist when she took a tumble from her nest as a youngster. Even with rehab, her wrist only regained 80% of its mobility. This prevents her from fully extending that wing and truly being able to fly and soar like a red-tailed hawk is meant to do. She can jump and do short distance flights, but she isn’t able to maintain lift for long and is limited to how far she can fly and how high she can jump. Our facility has legal permits issued by USFWS to house her and or other raptors.
