The victim, 28-year-old Mohit Sharma, was found dead in the back seat of a car in a secluded location, with his mobile phone, gold jewellery, and ATM card all missing from the scene. Mohit had originally gone to Canada on a student visa around five years ago, and after completing his studies, he had obtained permanent residency in the country. He was working as a manager at a company at the time of his death. According to his father, Tarlok Nath Sharma, who works in the Central Reserve Police Force and is currently posted in Jammu, Mohit had two daughters who had settled abroad, one in Canada and the other in the United Kingdom.
