This is the second set of dogs I met that need placement. Both of them greeted us, as they were clamoring to get over the metal structure, doing their job and alerting their owner. As we walked along the side of their yard, they ran along side us with excitement and anticipation. This gate was wired shut, so that it was strong enough they couldn’t bust it open. I had to immediately walk away from the gate, so the dogs would follow and not escape. While they have plenty of space to run, they haven’t had a lot of mental engagement. German Shepherds are incredibly smart, and need cognitive enrichment to prevent them from getting bored. Tank is 5 years old, and neutered already, which is why he is kept in the same yard as Nikki - a 4 year old female. Nikki has a more wooly appearance, with an incredibly thick coat. Tank enjoys digging, when left to his own devices for entertainment. Nikki prefers to splash around in her water bowl, dunking her head in and out of the water like she’s bobbing for apples. They are living outside right now - which includes in the heat, thunderstorms, and the cold as we quickly approach winter. In order for us to be able to help them, they must find foster homes. Fosters must live within an hour of Blue Springs, Mo. (Adopters can live anywhere.) If you’re interested in opening up your heart and home to Tank or Nikki, please text 816-935-2111. #pawportunities #germanshepherd
