@floriangadsby: I’ve started using porcelain more and more over the past few months. For the most part it has been an utter pleasure, together with being a very steep learning curve. Having worked with mostly groggy stoneware for the past decade this stuff feels almost alien. It’s buttery smooth, plasticky and unforgiving, yet it acts like a bright white canvas for glazes to sing on. So, when things do go wrong, or I trim a vessel too thinly, I generally slice them in half to check out what went wrong and to see where my inconsistencies were, before slinging the pot onto the radiator or onto the firing kiln, to dry thoroughly dry out before it can be recycled. #porcelain #crosssection #maker #ceramics #oddlysatisfying #satisfying #trialanderror #practicemakesperfect
