@gen_laforce: so to avoid any confusion, Costa rica does 100% supports us in legislation. and most people are very open. it felt very safe to travel with my gf. our measures are simply precautionary🫶🏼 (just wanted to clarify as the way i formulated it in the beginning is misleading, i was quoting comments i got as opposed to stating that the country is not open) #travel #costarica #couple #relatable #travelcontent

I'm a Costa Rican and some of my foreign friends said that people here were open and welcoming to them, so I'm glad you also felt safe! 💜

i’m from costa rica and a lot of the homophobia is more covert. ppl will give dirty looks, and judge u internally, but violence is unlikely

What would you recommend for married couples? Should we avoid wearing our rings?😅

Always be cautious. We say that all the time. We felt comfortable in our area. You just never know, even with other travelers.

i thought Costa Rica has approved LGBT marriage but it's true it's deeply homophobic

I'd argue CR is safer than the US/Canada in terms of homophobia. A bit dissapointed in you for how you presented the country.

Could you seriously stop saying this is a country that doesn't support lgbtq rights? It's really misleading

Why are people confused, when no matter where you go, someone hates someone. As long as you have a good time and stay safe, go. It’s for you not them.

We honeymooned their in July. We stayed at a private resort owned by gay men and felt very safe there. But in public we’re very aware and careful

Thank you for making this bc this is how I felt while there! The majority of people are welcoming but that is not always the case in smaller towns (1)
